Akemi Takeuchi

Akemi Takeuchi is a woman of strong character and convictions. When the earthquake occurred in 2011, she was working in Yokohama and did not believe that her life could have such a big change. Two years later she decided to return to her birthplace, the disaster changed her perspective on life and spurred her interest into doing something for the territory. Then she started working on a project to help with the marketing of the Kawauchi Wine Company with her experience in the world of wines thanks to his travels through Europe. Later she got her title of sommelier.

Kawauchi is a region that was previously known for its livestock farming. Unfortunately, it had to see thousands of animals that needed to be sacrificed due to radiation and seemed to be abandoned. When the radiation levels dropped down, the Government allowed cultivation trials with the vineyards. Currently in this area of ​​Kawauchi, the wine brand grows different grape varieties (depending on the climate and terrain), from chardonnay to albariño.
