Himawari Project

Himawari Project was born with the idea of creating hope through a symbol: the sunflower. There are studies that indicate that sunflowers can absorb radiation from the ground, and that is why the project marked the idea of planting them throughout the prefecture, especially in the most affected areas, turning this plant into a symbol of hope and future. In one of these areas, each year wedding ceremonies are held with the intention of celebrating community life and the prosperity of the land.

This project has also reached a great impact throughout the country, linking it to schools, providing jobs for people with disabilities and for people who lost their jobs due to the disaster and even managed to publish a manga. During the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, these same sunflowers were used as bouquets, accompanying the awarding of medals.
